Q. I am buying Photoshop and I want to get the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4. Do i need to already have the Adobe Lightroom 4 to get the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Upgrade?
Also, what is the difference between the student/teacher version of Adobe Lightroom 4 than the regular one?
One last question: Can I put the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 on more than on computer (laptop)?
Thanks so much for the help!!!!!

A. You need to have an earlier version of Lightroom (3, 2, or 1) to buy an upgrade version for Lightroom. If you already owned 4, then there would be no need to get the upgrade version because you'd already own it.
An upgrade version means you can purchase a newer version cheaper than if you had to buy the "full" version. They are both "full" versions and have all the same things... but you don't have to pay for the licensing rights/fees again since you already purchased them in a previous version. However, you do need an older version installed and registered before you can successfully install and use an upgrade version without the 30-day trial limit activating.
The student/teacher edition is the same exact thing (feature wise). They have all the same tools, features, settings, etc... except it's cheaper to buy, there are a few different licensing restrictions (see adobe's website to know what those are), and you NEED to be able to prove you're a student or teacher to get the discount. The "normal" editions don't require any proof at all to purchase.
Yes, you can put Lightroom on only two computers ... BUT you can't access them simultaneously. You need to "deactivate" the copy on your laptop before you can use it on the other computer, and vice versa.

Can I download Lightroom 4 on multiple computers?
Q. If I download it directly from amazon can I still download it onto other computers for free? If I wanted to download it onto 2 computers would I need to order the disk?
A. Normal Adobe policy is to allow you to install on two computers, it keeps a note of hardware serial numbers so it knows which computer you are using.
If you want to use it on a third computer you have to deactivate it on one of the other two. All very messy.
This is changing with all Adobe products with the release of CS6, it's costing Adobe a fortune in call centres all over the World sorting peoples problems out with this system especially when their customers upgraded their computers and the hardware 'signature' disappeared.
When you installed it onto your computer you would have had to register it with Adobe and create an account when you activated it, log into that account and you can download it from there.
Even though I have all the disks for all the Adobe products I own, I can still download from my account. For a nominal cost Adobe will send you a disk.
